Our purposes
Our purpose is to promote the welfare, resilience, preparedness, and recovery of the Highlands community by facilitating community-led support, advocacy, partnerships, education, resource development, and disaster preparedness activities that assist the community before, during, and after emergencies and disasters.

Relief and recovery support
To provide practical relief, material aid, welfare assistance and communication to communities impacted by the 2026 Longwood bushfire and any future disasters or emergencies.

Community connection and well-being
To foster community resilience and well-being by hosting social gatherings, community meals, workshops and connection-building activities.

Coordination and collaboration
To mobilise, support and coordinate volunteers, local community groups and partner organisations engaged in disaster relief, recovery and community welfare.

Advocacy and referral
To advocate for fire-affected residents and facilitate direct connection to government and non-government agencies, health and well-being providers, and specialist recovery services.

Capacity building and resource development
To identify and prioritise local recovery needs, and to secure, manage and distribute funding, grants and resources for community-led rebuilding and support initiatives.

Resilience and preparedness
To improve the community's resilience and preparedness for future disasters through community education, enhanced communications networks and infrastructure improvements such as generators, water supply sources and disaster protection for the hall.
Formerly known as the Highlands Relief Hub, the association was renamed to reflect its ongoing recovery and resilience work across Highlands and the surrounding district.
